Relax, Refresh, Renew

In Andalucia, Spain

12th - 19th September 2020

Come play in the sun! Rejuvenate amid the rolling Spanish hills of Andalucia with seasonal yoga and tai chi. What would you say to spending 7 dreamy nights under the stars of the Milky Way? Imagine yourself relaxing by the salt-water pool after a rejuvenating yoga class with views stretching out over the golden horizon.

Yoga, Seasonal Wellness, Tai Chi and Qi Gong

The morning classes will be designed to gently wake you up and stretch you out ready for a relaxing day ahead. The early evening classes will be more restorative and will work on balancing out your energy. Drift off with dreamy sessions of yoga nidra.

There will be abundant opportunities during the week to refresh mind, body and soul. Sink into the season and the fruit of the harvest with the Seasonal Living Wellness information where you will learn how to support and nourish both mind and body during this time of the year as we explore the 5 Element Theory of Chinese Medicine. Qi Gong-Shibashi-Tai Chi sessions will also be offered and offer a huge array of benefits with the main ones being to promote calm, ease tension and bring balance to the energetic (meridian) systems of our body.

Beginners to yoga are very welcome on this retreat. There will always be options to challenge yourself but the main focus will be doing whatever it is your body needs – so if that’s rest, please listen to that!

Our yoga classes will be held around the property in the retreat’s purpose built studios. Our practice will wander between the Om Dome, Moon Shala (a sustainable eco-built cobb building) and the farmhouse in the cozy wooden-beamed Ganesha studio. All studios are equipped with Manduka yoga mats and props but if there is anything in particular that you need for your practice then it’s best to bring it with you.

Remember, this retreat is for you, so you can get involved with the classes and activities as much as you like! Rest is also good for the soul so if you’d rather sleep in and skip class, you have our full permission.

Serene Suryalila

Suryalila is a composite of two Sanskrit words. Surya refers to the ancient sun god and lila means cosmic play (of the gods). Together the words mean “Cosmic Play of the Sun”.

Our relaxing eco-retreat is nestled serenely in a large open valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Grazelema Natural Park. This majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila- a dedicated and tranquil yoga centre. A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vistas extending in all directions: rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes.

Relax in a hammock, walk the trails to an ancient monastery, delight in the gardens, daydream, explore the nearby villages, treat yourself to a massage, work on your tan, read by the pool, say hello to the animals. Observe and live the art of sustainable architecture first hand from our hosts.

Our accommodation is both soothing to the soul and delightful to the eye. The furnishings and the room decorations have all been imported from Bali, India and Morocco. The Spanish farmhouse-style wooden ceilings with beams and the terracotta tiled floors blend harmoniously with the exotic Asian furniture and wall hangings. Choose to stay in either the farmhouse buildings or the sustainably built Eco Casas. The Eco Casas contains three charming and romantic eco-friendly rooms built from sustainable cob – straw bale & mud, which all have access to the very pleasant nearby outside hot showers and toilets.

No matter where you sleep, there is even the option to try the sustainable outdoor shower that works to water the gardens. Watch for rainbows galore while splashing under a bluebird blue sky. It’s heaven!

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Seville, which can be reached from Bristol and London airports with Vueling, Easyjet, Ryanair and British Airways. We usually use the skyscanner website to find great value flights. Currently roundtrip flights from London Gatwick on EasyJet or British Airways are approximately £85-135 but remember they tend to increase in price the nearer you get to the date.

Flying into Jerez or Malaga are also options, but the travel times to the retreat centre are longer.

From Seville airport the travel time is approximately a 1.5 – 2 hour drive.Transfers can be organised for you at a cost of approx. 90 Euro per car of four.

Jerez (nearer) and Malaga (further) airports are also possibilities. As soon as you book your flights, please let us know so we can try to group people together to split the cost for the pick-up. You will be paying Euro cash directly to the driver, so it is best to bring Euros with you as there are no money exchanges in either the Seville or Jerez airports.
